Information technology has many applications related to energy efficiency, by means of both communication networks and end user devices (the Internet of Things). Developing intelligent devices, able to monitor energy use in smart homes and cities, and having the ability to access this information from any device (e.g. a smart phone) are two key components in the development of these technologies.
