Signal Processing Group (GTS)

Description

The Signal Processing Group (GTS) is a member of the Instituto de Telecomunicación y Aplicaciones Multimedia (iTEAM) of the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (UPV, Spain). It specializes in the theory and application of signal processing, including machine learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Its key research areas are:

Theory:

  • AI techniques for anomaly detection.
  • Machine learning for acoustic event classification.
  • Time-frequency analysis.
  • Optimal detection and classification.
  • Pattern recognition.
  • Independent and nonlinear component analysis.

Applications:

  • Non-destructive testing of materials using ultrasound and impact-echo signals.
  • Detection of nonlinearities and material faults through acoustic spectroscopy.
  • Acoustic leak detection in pipelines.
  • Monitoring and surveillance using sensor fusion of audio, visible, and infrared images.
  • Passive acoustic monitoring for cetacean detection and density estimation.
  • Characterization of anthropogenic underwater noise.
  • Biomedical signal processing (EEGs and ECGs).
The group activities are partially supported by research funds from PROMETEO Programme (Generalitat Valenciana)
