Carlos Alcaide received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in telecommunication engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), Valencia, Spain, in 2012 and 2019, respectively.
In 2019, he joined the Institute of Telecommunications and Multimedia Applications, UPV. His current research interests include the analysis and design of passive components for space applications and high-power RF effects.

David Barrera Vilar obtuvo el título de Ingeniero de Telecomunicación en 2006 y el de Máster en Tecnologías, Sistemas y Redes de Comunicaciones en 2008 por la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia. Desde 2006 trabaja en el Grupo de Comunicaciones Opticas y Cuánticas del Instituto de Telecomunicaciones y Aplicaciones Multimedia (ITEAM). Actualmente cursa estudios de doctorado y desarrolla su investigación sobre sensores en fibra óptica.

I was born in Cádiz, Spain in 1991. I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) in 2015. In May 2019 I concluded my P.hD. with the Cum Laude mention about Microwave Photonics applied to Low Coherence Interferometry, completely developed in the Photonics Research Labs (PRL) from the UPV. At the moment, I am working as a postdoc researcher in the PRL. My interests cover microwave photonics systems, radio over fiber technology and photonic integrated circuits (PIC).

Antonio José Berenguer Verdú nació en Onil (Alicante), España, el 1 de mayo de 1987. Recibió el título de máster en telecomunicaciones en 2011, con mención honorífica al mejor expediente, por la Universitat Politècnica de València. Ha trabajado en el instituto de telecomunicaciones y aplicaciones (ITEAM) desde 2010. Actualmente se encuentra realizando los estudios para la obtención del título de doctor en telecomunicaciones con una beca FPU del Ministerio de Educación. Sus principales intereses de investigación son la tecnología de los teraherzios, análisis modal de guías superficiales, métodos numéricos y diseño de filtros en tecnología Gap waveguide.

Daniel Calabuig nació en Valencia en 1981. Obtuvo los títulos de Máster y Doctorado en Telecomunicaciones en la Universitat Politècnica de València en 2005 y 2010 respectivamente. En 2005 se unió al Instituto de Telecomunicaciones y Aplicaciones Multimedia (iTeAM) y en 2006 recibió una beca del Ministerio de Educación para sus estudios de doctorado. Durante los años siguientes participó en algunos proyectos y actividades europeas como NEWCOM, COST2100 e ICARUS. Hasta que finalizó su doctorado, Daniel Calabuig trabajó en la gestión de recursos radio en sistemas inalámbricos heterogéneos y en la optimización de redes neuronales de Hopfield. En 2009 estuvo de estancia en el Centre for Wireless Network Design (CWiND) en la universidad de Bedfordshire, Luton, UK, durante cuatro meses (CWiND está actualmente en la universidad de Sheffield). En 2010 Daniel Calabuig consiguió una beca Marie Curie de la Comisión Europea para investigar en el campo de las transmisiones cooperativas multipunto. Gracias a esta beca visitó durante dos años el departamento de Systems and Computer Engineering (SCE) de la Universidad de Carleton, Ottawa, Canadá, desde 2010 hasta 2012. Durante 2012 también ha estado un mes en la TOBB Ekonomi ve Teknoloji Üniversitesi en Ankara, Turquia.En la actualidad está involucrado en el proyecto europeo Mobile and wireless communications Enablers for the Twenty-twenty Information Society (METIS), cuyo objetivo principal establecer los fundamentos de la 5G, la próxima generación de sistemas de comunicaciones móviles e inalámbricos.

Ismael de Fez obtuvo el título de Ingeniero Superior de Telecomunicaciones y el máster en Telemática por la Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), Valencia, España, en 2007 y 2010, respectivamente. En 2014 obtuvo el Doctorado en Telecomunicación por la UPV.Actualmente, forma parte del equipo investigador del Grupo de Comunicaicones Multimedia (COMM) del Instituto de Telecomunicaciones y Aplicaciones Multimedia (iTEAM), UPV. Sus áreas de interés son la codificación y transmisión de ficheros sobre canales unidireccionales.

I finished my Telecommunications Engineering degree, Master's degree in Technologies, Systems and Telecommunication's Networks and PhD degree in Telecommunications at the Universitat Politècnica de València in 2014, 2015 and 2020, respectively. Currently, my work is focused on the application of novel Space-Division Multiplexing technologies to Microwave Photonics.

Conchi García Pardo es investigadora postdoctoral en el Grupo de Comunicaciones Móviles (MCG) de iTEAM. Obtuvo el título de Ingeniero en Telecomunicación por la Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena en 2007, y el de Máster en Tecnologías de la Información y las Comunicaciones en 2008. En 2007 obtuvo una beca predoctoral de Formación de Personal Investigador (FPI) de la Fundación Séneca de la Región de Murcia para la realización de la tesis doctoral, centrada en la caracterización experimental del canal de propagación para sistemas de gran ancho de banda y múltiples antenas. Durante 2008, 2009 y 2010 realizó sendas estancias de investigación en el Grupo de Telecomunicaciones y Compatibilidad Electromagnética (TELICE) de la Universidad de Lille 1, en Lille, Francia. En 2012, obtuvo los título de Doctora con Mención Europea y calificación Cum Laude por la Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena y Doctora en Microondas y Microtecnologías con calificación Très Honorable por la Universidad de Lille 1. Su tesis doctoral fue galardonada con el Premio Extraordinario de la Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena en 2013. Es autora de 18 trabajos en revistas y congresos internaciones así como de 17 trabajos en revistas y congresos nacionales. Durante el curso 2011/2012 fue profesora en la Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena en el área de Teoría de la Señal y Comunicaciones. En 2012 se incorporó al MCG en iTEAM como investigadora postdoctoral donde ha participado en proyectos en las áreas de Radiodifusión y Comunicaciones Móviles. Actualmente, sus líneas de trabajo actuales se centran en el estudio de interferencias entre sistemas de televisión y otros sistemas de comunicaciones móviles; la caracterización del canal radio en entornos especiales y las comunicaciones de área corporal.

David Garcia Roger nació en Valencia en 1978. Obtuvo el título de ingeniero de Telecomunicaciones con matrícula de honor en la Universitat Politècnica de València en noviembre de 2001 y el doctorado en Telecomunicaciones (cum laude) en el Departamento de Comunicaciones de la misma universidad en marzo de 2007. Desde septiembre de 2007 a abril de 2009 estuvo como profesor visitante en el Departamento de Ingeniería Telemática de la Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. Desde mayo de 2009 hasta marzo de 2011 trabajó como investigador en el Grupo de Comunicaciones Ópticas del iTeAM. A continuación, desde septiembre de 2011 hasta junio de 2012 estuvo trabajando como consultor en Innovación, Desarrollo y Tecnologías de la Información y las Comunicaciones en Fundacion Equipo Humano, en Valencia. Actualmente desde junio de 2012 se encuentra trabajando como investigador en el Grupo de comunicaciones Móviles del iTeAM. El Doctor Garcia Roger ha publicado 25 artículos, 5 de los cuales han sido publicados en revistas indexadas en la publicación anual del Journal Citation Reports. También ha sido miembro del proyecto europeo ALPHA FP7IP así como de otros tres proyectos de la Red Europea de Excelencia y otros diez proyectos financiados por el gobierno español. David Garcia Roger recibió el premio de la Cátedra Telefónica en 2007 y en 2009 recibió el del Consejo Social de la UPV por las contribuciones de su tesis doctoral a los campos académicos de la informática y las comunicaciones. Actualmente, sus intereses en el campo de la investigación incluyen el estudio del protocolo IEEE 802.21 MIH (Media Independent Handover) y el desarrollo de la Interfaz entre las capas MAC y física en femto celdas LTE.

Itandehui joined the Photonics Research Labs (PRL) in 2018. She was awarded a PhD for her research conducted at the Centre for Photonics and Photonic Materials at the University of Bath, UK. She investigated the effects of OH on the attenuation of photonic crystal fibres and developed methods to consistently achieve low-loss. After completing her PhD she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bath where she developed highly specialised optical fibre based devices (with low loss broad band operation, photonic lanterns and the Airy fibre) which enable astrophotonics, medical, and telecommunications applications. She has worked closely with international partners in industry and academia. She has extensive experience on the design, fabrication, postprocessing and characterization of specialty optical fibres and photonic lanterns. She is interested in exploring further the possibilities of specialty optical fibres to deliver, transform, and manipulate light.

I received the B .S. degree in Telecommunication Engineering and M. Sc. degree in Telecommunications systems, Networks and Technologies and finally the PhD in Nanophotonics, all of them from Universitat Politècnica de Valencia, Spain, in 2009, 2010 and 2013, respectively.
In 2008, I joined the Nanophotonics Technology Center of Valencia where I worked in photonic materials and devices, specifically electro-optical modulators. In 2018, I joined the Photonics Research Labs where I am nowadays full-time working.
My research interests include low-cost and power-efficiency silicon modulators and networks-on-chip for on-chip optical communications with application in both analog and digital scopes. I have been involved in several research projects and published or collaborated in around 18 contributions in international referred journals and in 29 conferences.

Pablo Gutierrez-Parera was born in Córdoba, Spain in 1982. He received a telecommunications engineer degree in 2008 from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. In 2010 and 2013 he obtained a M.S. degree in digital postproduction and a European graduate in telecommunication systems, sound and image engineering, both from the Universitat Politècnica de Valencia. Currently, he is a PhD grant holder from the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness under the FPI program and is pursuing his PhD degree in telecommunications at the Institute of Telecommunications and Multimedia Applications (iTEAM) working in the field of spatial audio, both with speakers and binaural headphone listening.

Andrés Macho Ortiz is a postdoctoral researcher of the Photonics Research Labs at iTEAM at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). He holds a BSc, MSc and PhD degrees in Telecommunications Engineering from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and the UPV. In previous years, he worked at Telefonica R&D and at the Nanophotonics Technology Center (UPV) encompassing diverse research areas: advanced optical modulation formats, space-division multiplexing, radio-over-fiber, nonlinear optics, and transformation optics. Currently, he is working at the Photonics Research Labs in integrated photonics for classical and quantum computation and information.

I completed my BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Shiraz University in Iran in 2006. Later on in 2012, I received my PhD degree in the same field from the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
Afterwards, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the US and Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden. In my research career, I have mainly focused on Space Division Multiplexing and particularly have investigated the applications of nonlinear effects in multicore and multimode fibers and few-mode silicon nitride waveguides. For this means, I have gained experience in designing few-mode fibers and waveguides with specific dispersion and nonlinear properties. I have also worked on modeling the formation and dynamics of dark pulse Kerr combs in normal dispersion microresonators.
In Nov. 2019, I joined the iTEAM Research Institute of the Polytechnic University of Valencia in Spain, where I will continue my research in Space-Division Multiplexing and look into its application in fiber-wireless communications.

I hold a BSc, MSc and PhD degrees In Telecommunications Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de València and I’m full-time working in the Photonics Research Labs. My research embraces integrated photonics, focusing on programmable photonic processors. I have been involved in several research projects and published around 20 contributions in international referred journals and conferences.
During my Ph.D I was a short-term student visitor at the Optoelectronics Research Centre of the University of Southampton (UK).
In 2015 I received the “Best National Final Degree Project in Fundamentals and Information Technologies, Communications and its Applications”, of COIT-AEIT.
My Ph.D Thesis was awarded with the Best Student Graduate Fellowship Award IPS (IEEE).

Luis holds a B.Sc and M.Sc degrees in Telecommunications Engineering from Universidad de Sevilla, Spain. He received his Ph.D. degree in Telecommunications from the Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique (INRS), in Montréal, Canada, in 2018, where he graduated with the highest honors, receiving the best Ph.D. thesis award, as well as innovation and international recognition awards. During 2019, he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at INRS, conducting research on the fields of ultrafast energy-efficient classical and quantum optical signal generation, processing and characterization, optical frequency combs and microwave photonics.
He has worked closely with international industrial and academic partners, resulting in his participation in over 10 research projects in Canada and Europe, the publication of over 35 works in international peer-reviewed journals, his contribution to over 65 international conferences, as well as the filing of 4 international patents.
Luis joined the Photonics Research Labs in 2020, becoming a Juan de la Cierva grantee in 2021. His current research interests include, among others, optical signal processing, integrated photonics, microwave photonics, and quantum optics.

María Angeles Simarro Haro recibió el título de Ingeniera de Telecomunicaciones y el Master en Tecnologías, Sistemas y Redes de Comunicaciones por la Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) en 2011 y 2012, respectivamente. Además obtuvo el titulo de Doctora en Telecomunicaciones por la UPV en 2017. Acualmente trabaja como investigadora en el Grupo de tratamiento de Audio y Comunicaciones que forma parte del Instituto de Telecomunicaciones y Aplicaciones Multimedia (iTEAM). Sus intereses principales son el procesado de señal en array y los sistemas de comunicaciones móviles, centrándose principalmente en la detección y precodificación de la señal en sistemas MIMO.

Tito Raúl Vargas Hernández earned his degree in Telecommunications Engineering from Universidad Santo Tomás, Colombia, in 2003, and was recognized as a Telecommunications Engineer by the Spanish Education and Science Ministry in 2005. He went on to receive his M.Sc degree in Telematics Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), Spain, in 2008. In 2023, he successfully defended his doctoral thesis in Telecommunications Engineering at UPV.
From 2005 to 2010, Tito worked as an ICT research technician and research engineer at the AI2 and Multimedia Communication Group at the iTEAM Research Institute at UPV. Since 2010, he has held various positions at Universidad Santo Tomás, Bucaramanga, Colombia, including lecturer, master degree director, ICT consultant, researcher, Digital Transformation Center Director, and Virtual Campus Director. In 2022, Tito joined the Photonics Research Labs at iTEAM Research Institute at UPV as a researcher engineer.
Tito's research interests include service, application, and networking architectures in multimedia communications, Internet of Things, fiber sensing, and optical and electrical networking.
