Bio

Itandehui joined the Photonics Research Labs (PRL) in 2018. She was awarded a PhD for her research conducted at the Centre for Photonics and Photonic Materials at the University of Bath, UK. She investigated the effects of OH on the attenuation of photonic crystal fibres and developed methods to consistently achieve low-loss. After completing her PhD she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bath where she developed highly specialised optical fibre based devices (with low loss broad band operation, photonic lanterns and the Airy fibre) which enable astrophotonics, medical, and telecommunications applications. She has worked closely with international partners in industry and academia. She has extensive experience on the design, fabrication, postprocessing and characterization of specialty optical fibres and photonic lanterns. She is interested in exploring further the possibilities of specialty optical fibres to deliver, transform, and manipulate light.
